Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Lakers game preview

The Rockets take on LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers

NBA: Houston Rockets at Los Angeles Lakers Kiyoshi Mio-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Rockets...deep sigh...are still looking for their first road win.

We’ve beaten the caveats to death (hard schedule, back-to-backs, injuries, etc.), so I’ll spare you all the excuses. Suffice to say that the Rockets are on the doorstep of their first road win, and tonight’s a legitimate chance to get it.

The Rockets have played the Los Angeles Lakers well even during the rebuild. They blew out the Lakers earlier this season in Houston (Anthony Davis was out, I know), and then only lost by a free throw in LA (Anthony Davis did play in that one).

To go on a tangent, I love that the NBA passed a bunch of new rules this season essentially saying “Stars must play all the games,” only for LeBron James to say, “Cool but if Bronny plays for USC then you’re on your own.” The Trojans do play Gonzaga tonight in Las Vegas, but Bronny is not expected to be cleared until next week at the earliest. So James will be available tonight.

Somehow, Houston is not playing at a rest disadvantage tonight, which I thought was illegal when they played on the road.
