The Houston Rockets, after a tough loss to the number one team in the Western Conference, the Minnesota Timberwolves, get ready to take on the second-best team in the Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks.
Coach Udoka spoke to the media before the game and talked about talking with Alperen Sengun for the time and also meeting his father for the first time. Udoka also talked about Cam Whitmore and if he could still see minutes once Dillon Brooks and Tari Eason are back in the lineup.
Here is what Coach Udoka said about his first conversation with Sengun and meeting his father.
During pregame @CotyDavis_24 asked about the first conversation that Ime had with Sengun. Ime also spoke about meeting Alperen family for the first time.— Lachard Binkley (@BinkleyHoops) January 6, 2024
“I met his father yesterday for the first time and they loved me because I coach him like he raised him”

Coach Udoka normally has a poker face and rarely smiles during interviews or on the sideline, but when he talked about meeting Sengun for the first time and speaking with his family, a big smile came over his face.
You could tell from the start that Sengun wanted to be coached hard and get better during the offseason. His hard work and Udoka's coaching style have taken the Sengun game to the next level.
I asked Coach Udoka about Cam Whitmore's strong play recently and if that could lead to meaningful minutes even when Brooks and Eason are back in the lineup.

Udoka has seen the growth from Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore. Whitmore, in particular, has seen his minutes increase with the injury to Brooks and Eason and has taken full advantage. Even with the strong play, it seems it will still be difficult for Whitmore to get consistent minutes once the Rockets are fully healthy, but as Udoka pointed out, "it's a good problem to have."
Coach Udoka also spoke about Eason and Brooks injury saying Eason is still day to day but Brooks is week to week.
The Rockets look to return to the winning track as they take on the Bucks at Toyota Center in the final game of their seven-game home stand.
